This is a problem solver when gating snares. Typically snare gets clipped at its front when gating, so here is the trick. Put a gate on your snare track and enable the sidechain. Duplicate your snare track to a new audio track, pull down volume all the way and move it slightly earlier with a pre send sent to sidechain on original snare track. Gate will now be triggered ahead which will rectify clipping problem.
nice drumming and this kit is worth genitigtf u get superior drummer or like EZ drummer. but if u want just a nice kit get a roland TD-9k2 or Even cheaper roland TD-4. The DD-508 and all legacy are just not good enough. The alseis DM10 is good for its price (ive tried it). I feel bad for anyone who got this drum kit But if u did then get steven slate drums, ez drummer or like superior drummer and ur drums will sounds better than roland (those programs cost money of course) but roland is as good
Well, I can tell you this much, this kit is worth every penny and more. The 10 kits that come built in the module alclauty sound really good and is great for quick practicing or just jotting down some drum ideas. I havethe module hook up to a M-Audio Firewire 410 (which is then connected to my computer via firewire) and thats where the possibilites are endless. This kit works so well as a midi controller. I am using a Mac Mini 2.6 ghz 3GB RAM Intel Core Duo, I hooked this up to garageband and it was simply just plug and play. I didnt have to assign any pads or sounds, the computer and the kit knew which drums were what and I was ready to go. I am all about saving time and spending more time playing. Put it like this, I once came home at 2am, and I felt like playing, I just threw on my headphones, and I was good to go. This kit almost has no limits, its small enough to carry around to gigs, setup is 1 2 3, You can hook this baby up to a drum machine and BAM, you just added a hundred more drum kits to your arsenal. I would definately reccommend this to all drummers (rookies and experts). I have been playing drums for over 12 years, This Roland HD1 will be my 7th drumset that i have owned (6 acoustic, 1 electronic), I took a big risk with this kit, but certainly a risk worth taking.
When side-chaining, the compressor uses the volume level of an input signal to determine how strongly the compressor will reduce the gain on its output signal. This is used by disc jockeys for ducking – lowering the music volume automatically when speaking. The DJ’s microphone signal is routed to the compressor’s sidechain so that whenever the DJ speaks the compressor reduces the volume of the music. A sidechain with equalization controls can be used to reduce the volume of signals that have a strong spectral content within a certain frequency range: it can act as a de-esser , reducing the level of vocal sibilance in the range of 6–9 kHz. A de-esser helps reduce high frequencies that tend to overdrive preemphasized media (such as phonograph records and FM radio). Another use of the side-chain in music production serves to maintain a loud bass track without the bass drum causing undue peaks that result in loss of overall headroom .
Twitter: twitter.com When I first got this album in 1996, I remember my jaw dropping when I heard Danny Carey’s polyrhythm on this song at the 6:35 mark. I sat at my drums for hours trying to wrap my mind around playing triplets on the hi-hat while holding down 4 on the rest of the kit. I put the song on ice till now, and finally worked my way through it. As always, playing a Tool song was a lot of fun, and I hope you like it too. Thanks for watching!
